Youth Education
We offer programs for the very
young through the teen years. These programs are structured to allow
even the youngest children to recognize themselves as unique and
valuable expressions of God: to experience using the power of their
minds to create what they choose and to share their joys and concerns
with other children in a spiritually supportive environment. As children
participate in these programs, their self-esteem builds and they become
more confident in expressing themselves authentically and creatively.
Children and teens have a natural affinity for spirituality. If they are
encouraged to develop spiritual awareness while they are young, they
gain a trust in life and a sense of self that serves them all their
lives.
Each week, teachers present Science of Mind principles in lessons and
experiences appropriate to each age group. The program includes
discussion of spiritual ideas that relate to the child’s daily
activities, stories, sharing, singing, doing affirmation, treatment,
meditation, visualization and other experiential activities all in a
spirit of love, encouragement, and fun.
Teen Church
Teen Church is for youth ages 13 to 18 years. The
purpose of Teen Church is for teens to: develop an awareness of the Divine
Presence within, to learn to trust in their inner wisdom and guidance,
to accept their inherent value and unique self-worth, to discover and
use the creative power of mind in their everyday lives, and to
experience and express love for themselves and one another.
This purpose is accomplished through the teens learning Religious
Science principles in group discussion and experiential workshops led by
an advisor. As the teens share their dreams, fears and experiences in
safe, spiritual environment, they find acceptance, encouragement and
personal spiritual growth. They develop confidence within themselves and
respect for the value of self.
Religious Science International sponsors Youth Seminars twice a year:
one in winter (3 days long) in Northern and Southern California, and one
in summer (1 week long), the location varies. Teens throughout the United
States and Canada are welcome. These seminars are planned and organized
by the Executive and Workshop Committees for Youth Seminars under the
leadership of the RSI Director of Youth Education. These seminars
encourage spiritual growth in an environment which offers freedom of
expression within the framework of planned activities.
